The upper limit for an 8-hour workday has been set at 85 dB. If the average loudness measurements in the workplace exceed this value, then you should get ear muffs with a SNR parameter that will allow you to lower the noise level to 85 dB and less. Assuming that we will work all the time wearing earmuffs with an SNR parameter of 20.4 while being in a work environment with a noise level of 104.4 dB, then we will reduce the noise to 84 dB.
